RTN Federal Credit Union and RTN GoodWorks Foundation provide summer financial education for local youth

RTN Federal Credit Union and RTN GoodWorks Foundation co-sponsored three virtual financial education seminars last week for high school students participating in Waltham Partnership for Youth’s Summer Internship Program. Seventy-two students attended the seminars, which were presented by RTN’s partner American Consumer Credit Counseling, Inc. RTN is also a participating local employer, with one of the students working in the Waltham branch this summer.

“Make the Most of Your Money,” which was presented to two groups of student interns, covered a wide range of financial concepts and information, and provided students an opportunity to ask questions and share their thoughts on saving and spending money. “Work Benefits – Many Options to Choose From” covered information about paychecks as well as the importance of retirement planning and various retirement planning options. All three seminars had an interactive exercise to allow students to participate through the chat feature or to respond through their microphone.

“The material covered in RTN’s seminars will help prepare our interns as they enter the workforce as well as in their own personal lives,” says Jaime McAllister-Grande, Career Exploration and Training Program Coordinator, WPY. “I’m also happy that RTN was able to host an in-person intern in their Waltham branch this summer and that the intern was such a great fit.”
