This summer, RTN Federal Credit Union is helping local young people know more about credit unions and learn money management skills. RTN is partnering with Waltham Partnership for Youth (WPY), Waltham Boys & Girls Club and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center to provide financial education to students participating in their summer programs.
This month, RTN hosted a financial education seminar called “Your Money and Your Future” for high school students participating in WPY’s Summer Internship program. This interactive seminar covered financial concepts and information, and provided students an opportunity to ask questions and share their thoughts on saving and spending money. RTN is also a participating local employer, with one of the students working in the Waltham branch for the summer.
In August, RTN will host a “Your Money and Your Future” seminar for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Workforce Development summer student interns. Earlier in July, RTN hosted Waltham Boys & Girls Club Junior Camp Leader Program students for a tour of RTN’s Waltham Branch. Students heard presentations from different departments and enjoyed a pizza lunch.
“Many adults who experience financial distress do not have the basic knowledge to manage their finances effectively,” says Sarita Ledani, RTN’s Assistant Vice President of Business Development. “RTN is here to help students develop the skills to become the next generation of valued employees, and contribute to society with a background of strong financial management skills and tools to reach their goals.”
