RTN receives Greater Boston Sickle Cell Disease 2018 Corporate Partner Award

WALTHAM, MA (March 22, 2018) — RTN Federal Credit Union received the 2018 Corporate Partner Award at the Greater Boston Sickle Cell Disease Association Red Ribbon Gala and Scholarship Awards on March 17. Other 2018 Award recipients included Community Leadership Award – Neil Gilbert (Former Board Chair), and Distinguished Leadership Award – Dr. Lillian McMahon, Boston Medical Center

“This award is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the work RTN as done in the sickle-cell disease community,” comments Jacqueline M. Haley, MBA, GBSCDA Executive Director. “We are grateful for RTN’s ongoing partnership and support, including corporate donations, annual sponsorship, and volunteer participation in community projects.”

RTN’s relationship with GBSCDA is at the organizational level as well as the individual level. Ann-Marie Gordon, RTN’s Vice President for Operations, has been a GBSCDA volunteer for many years, and was the 2004 recipient of GBSCDA’s Community Award in recognition of her long-time service and dedication.

This year’s event was held on Saturday evening at Venezia Waterfront Banquet Facility in Dorchester, and featured a reception to celebrate the honorees, silent auction, dinner and the award ceremony. Former Mayor of Cambridge, Denise E. Simmons, was the Keynote Speaker.

The Greater Boston Sickle Cell Disease Association, Inc. is a federally approved 501(c) 3, local non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for and providing support services to patients and families facing the challenges associated with this disease. Our goals are to give persons living with sickle cell disease a chance to live healthier and more productive lives, and to promote awareness in the community.

Community involvement is a core value of RTN as a credit union. RTN supports local community projects and initiatives, and works collaboratively with members, sponsor groups and surrounding communities through financial support and volunteer participation.
