RTN’s Walk Home 2018 on June 10 to raise funds for homeless teens and families

WALTHAM, MA (May 4, 2018) — The 8th annual Walk Home 5K Benefit Walk for the Homeless will be on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 10 am (rain or shine), at three locations—Danvers Rail Trail, Dorchester Park and Waltham Common. Walk Home is sponsored by RTN Federal Credit Union and RTN GoodWorks Foundation. Funds raised help homeless teens and families.

Here is the impact in the three Walk Home communities of the $22,039 raised by Walk Home 2017:

Danvers – 40 children received new winter coats, hats and mittens; 40 children received new beds and bedding; and 11 households were assisted with their transition from homelessness to housing.

Dorchester (Boston) — 145 children received new winter coats, hats and mittens; 145 children received new beds and bedding; 305 households were assisted with their transition from homelessness to housing; and 2,500 hygiene products were purchased for teenagers experiencing homelessness attending Boston high schools.

Waltham — 65 children received with their transition from homelessness to housing.

“Walk Home is our signature fundraising event that brings together members and staff, community residents, business sponsors and local and state dignitaries and elected officials to work towards a common goal of helping homeless teens and families,” says Nicole James, RTN’s Senior Vice President, Retail Services. “We are proud that since 2011, Walk Home has raised more than $160,000 to support this effort and the ongoing work of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless.”
