San Diego County Credit Union EVP named among San Diego Business Women of the Year

San Diego Business Journal’s annual awards program recognizes women business leaders

San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, is proud to announce that SDCCU Executive Vice President of Enterprise Risk Management and Chief Risk Officer Carolyn Kissick was recognized at the 26th Annual Business Women of the Year Awards by the San Diego Business Journal. The awards program honors dynamic women business leaders who have contributed significantly to San Diego’s workplaces and communities.

Kissick, who joined SDCCU as Senior Vice President of Operations in 2014, was promoted to EVP of Operations and Enterprise Risk Management in 2017 and then eventually landed her new role as Executive Vice President of Enterprise Risk Management and Chief Risk Officer earlier this year, was among 25 women selected by the San Diego Business Journal. Nominees were judged on their innovation, entrepreneurship, professional accomplishment and community leadership. Awards were presented on November 13 at a special event held at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront and featured Keynote Speaker Carrie Stone, president of cStone & Associates.

Kissick was nominated for leading SDCCU’s efforts to minimize business risks that could threaten the organization’s productivity and profitability. This includes working with many internal and external departments to ensure decisions are balanced with potential technical, regulatory and competitive risks—that effective policies and procedures are established to manage operational risks and regulatory requirements are met on local, state and federal levels. Her work, much of which is sensitive and highly confidential—has tremendously impacted SDCCU’s growth and success, reaching more than 418,000 customers and $8.4 billion in assets.

Prior to joining SDCCU, she served as Senior Manager of Operations for Alliant Credit Union for more than four years and Vice President of Operations for Evolve Federal Credit Union for over 20 years. In these roles, she developed and led multiple teams, including IRAs and Special Services, Member Services/New Accounts, BSA and Compliance and Branch Operations.

Kissick has a BS/BM in Business Administration and Management with a minor in finance from University of Phoenix. She previously served on the CUNA Operations, Sales and Service Council and on several boards, including the Citizens Advisory Board for Pebble Hills Regional Police Command Center where she worked with the community and law enforcement to tackle incidents of fraud.

Carolyn Kissick.
