San Diego County Credit Union is sponsoring HauntFest

SDCCU is supporting Halloween festival benefiting non-profit that serves adults with developmental disabilities

SAN DIEGO, CA (October 17, 2014) -- San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, is supporting a family-friendly, community Halloween festival called “HauntFest on Main” that will benefit St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center (SMSC), a non-profit organization serving adults with developmental disabilities.

The free festival, expected to draw more than 20,000 people, will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday, Oct. 24, in the Downtown area of El Cajon, at the corner of East Main St. and Rea Ave. It will feature craft booths and games, a kids zone, outdoor movies, inflatables, decorated cars and a pumpkin patch with prizes for the perfect jack-o-lantern, plus a master carver at work. For a nominal fee, attendees can enjoy a carnival ride and food will be available from local vendors. HauntFest-goers are encouraged to wear their best costumes and pose for a family photo at the photo booth. Costume contests with cash prizes will be held for both children and adults.

This year’s third annual event will feature live entertainment on two stages, including musical performances from the Mighty Untouchables, Fabulous Pelicans and Ryan Hiller, as well as performances from such community groups as the TNT dancers, Rubio’s Performing Arts Studio and SMSC. Event organizers include the City of El Cajon and the Downtown El Cajon Business Partners. For more information, visit hauntfestonmain.com.

The kids zone on Rea Ave. is across the street from SMSC Gallery and Gift Shop. SMSC is an El Cajon-based, non-profit organization serves more than 400 adults with developmental disabilities, including autism, Down syndrome and cerebral palsy.

“We are proud to collaborate with St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center to make this free public event a fun treat for the whole family,” said SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Halleck. “HauntFest on Main also helps support local downtown businesses that are working hard to serve their local community.”

SMSC is just one of the more than 75 non-profit organizations and community events supported annually by SDCCU.
