San Diego County Credit Union offers free shredding services on Saturday, November 16
SDCCU is the current Guinness World Records® holder for the most paper collected in 24 hours and most paper shredded in 8 hours
SAN DIEGO, CA (November 15, 2019) — San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, is offering free shredding services at the following three locations from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 16: Westminster Branch at 6745 Westminster Blvd Unit B in Westminster; San Marcos Branch at 790 West San Marcos in San Marcos; and the SDCCU Operations Center at 6545 Sequence Dr. in Mira Mesa.
“The upcoming SDCCU Shred Day is a great way to properly dispose of confidential documents for free to help minimize the risk of fraud and identity theft. With the prevalence of fraud around the holiday, this is a great way to ensure you’re limiting your risk, and we hope you can take advantage of this opportunity,” said SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Campbell.
The first 200 people at each location who take advantage of SDCCU’s free shredding services will receive a free gift. The public is invited to bring a maximum of two boxes containing personal and confidential information to have it shredded on the spot at no charge in the parking lot of these three SDCCU locations.
SDCCU began hosting its free Shred Day events in 2007 and has since collected, shredded and recycled over 4.3 million pounds of documents at no charge, saving more than 37,000 trees (roughly 120 pounds shredded represents one saved tree). The events have also saved the community over $475,000 in costs associated with shredding documents.
