San Diego County Credit Union offers free shredding services on Saturday, March 18
SDCCU is the current Guinness World Record holder for the most paper collected and shredded in 24-hours
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 16, 2017) — San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, is offering free shredding services at the following three locations from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 18: San Ysidro Branch at 2036 Dairy Mart Road, Suite 130; Temecula Branch at 31693 Temecula Parkway; and the SDCCU Operations Center at 6545 Sequence Dr. in Mira Mesa.
“We encourage everyone to take advantage of the free SDCCU Shred Day. With an increase in the prevalence of fraud in recent years, properly disposing of confidential documents is one way to protect yourself,” said Teresa Halleck, SDCCU President and CEO. “Another way we aim to minimize the risk of fraud is by offering SDCCU’s online banking services, such as eStatements, eNotices and eReceipts.”
The first 200 people at each location who take advantage of SDCCU’s free shredding services will receive a free gift. The public is invited to bring a maximum of two boxes containing personal and confidential information to have it shredded on the spot at no charge in the parking lot of these three SDCCU locations.
SDCCU began hosting its Free Shred Day events in 2007 and has since collected, shredded and recycled nearly 2.5 million pounds of paper at no charge, saving over 21,000 trees (every 120 pounds shredded represents one saved tree).
Last year at the SDCCU Super Shred Event, SDCCU once again became the Guinness World Record® holder for the most paper collected in a 24-hour period at a single location. The exciting occasion—held at Qualcomm® Stadium—helped thousands of people, used 70 trucks and resulted in the collection of a total of 589,251 pounds of paper. SDCCU plans to break that record this year at their next SDCCU Super Shred Event scheduled for June 24, 2017.
