San Diego County Credit Union returns as sponsor of San Diego LGBT Pride celebration
“Pride Unites the World” theme calls for solidarity among all individuals
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 18, 2016) — San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®) San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, is a proud sponsor of the 42nd San Diego LGBT Pride celebration, held July 15 – 17 in San Diego’s Hillcrest area. This year’s theme, “Pride Unites the World” calls for solidarity for all people across the globe.
San Diego’s Pride celebration has grown to become a premier event in California for the LGBT community, featuring a block party, mile-long parade through Hillcrest and two-day festival in Balboa Park. Today, July 15 at 7 p.m., the Pride of Hillcrest Block Party will kick off the weekend of festivities. Tomorrow, July 16, over 200,000 cheering spectators and thousands of participants, including Team SDCCU, will gather for the annual San Diego LGBT Pride Parade. The parade—fourth largest of its kind in the United States—begins at 11 a.m. at University Ave. and Normal St.
“We want to ensure that everyone feels welcome at SDCCU and supporting Pride is one way to do that while helping an organization that gives back to the community,” San Diego County Credit Union President and CEO Teresa Halleck.
The festival will feature more than 300 exhibit booths, including SDCCU’s, three stages of entertainment, music, comedy and dance performers, an art exhibit, farmers market, beer gardens, wine grotto, children’s garden and food. The festival is held Saturday, July 16, from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, July 17, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, visit sdpride.org.
The SDCCU Hillcrest Branch opened last year, located at the corner of 5th and University avenues. The branch is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Just a block away at the corner of 6th and University avenues is the SDCCU ATM that distributes $1, $5 and $20 bills.
