San Diego County Credit Union sponsors Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
SDCCU supports breast cancer research and treatments
SAN DIEGO, CA (November 5, 2015) — San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution,continues its support for breast cancer research and treatments as a sponsor of the Susan G. Komen San Diego Race for the Cure®, which took place this past weekend. Over 10,000 people turned out for the 5k run/walk fundraiser, held Sunday, Nov. 1, in San Diego’s Balboa Park area.
“SDCCU is proud to once again support this event, and continue to join in Komen’s promise to save lives and end breast cancer,” said SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Halleck. “We stand with the committed health educators and breast cancer survivors who support the Komen organization’s efforts to encourage our community to take an active role in their health.”
More than 15,000 people have participated either as a walker or timed runner at previous Komen Race events in San Diego. The event raised money to help patients and their families and provide funds for breast cancer research. This year’s Race started and finished on the west side of Balboa Park, featuring pre- and post-event activities on the grassy area along 6th Avenue between Laurel Avenue and Quince Street. Susan G. Komen is the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. The San Diego affiliate of Susan G. Komen is just one of the more than 75 non-profit organizations and community events supported annually by SDCCU.
