San Diego County Credit Union sponsors the SACTOWN Ten-Mile Run benefitting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
Team SDCCU raised $7,285 to benefit Rady Children’s Hospital
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 27, 2014) — San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, sponsored and participated in the 5th Annual Credit Union SACTOWN Ten-Mile Run to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals earlier this month. Locally, proceeds benefit Rady Children’s Hospital.
On April 12, the Credit Union SACTOWN Ten-Mile Run in Sacramento brought together credit unions from across the country with a shared vision of fundraising and helping children. The proceeds from this event support the 170 Children’s Hospitals that belong to the CMN, which is a non-profit international organization that helps to treat millions of children across the U.S. and Canada.
“SDCCU was proud to join other credit unions across the state in a collective effort to support the Children’s Miracle Network hospitals that are providing vital care and services to children who need it most,” said SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Halleck. “I was especially proud of Team SDCCU for rallying together and raising $7,285, which will go to our local Rady Children’s Hospital.”
Team SDCCU—which was made up of 21 employees—traveled to Sacramento to run in this year’s ten-mile race, which started and finished at the California State Capitol. Their captain, Nathan Schmidt, SDCCU’s Executive Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, was the event’s overall top fundraiser, collecting 44 donations totaling over $3,850. A portion of the funds raised will be matched through the CO-OP Miracle Match Program, a $1 million philanthropic matching program that encourages credit unions, chapters and leagues to create and participate in local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraisers. SDCCU’s efforts in the SACTOWN Ten-Mile Run will yield over $10,000 for Rady Children’s Hospital.
This race is one of many activities that SDCCU participates in as part of its affiliation with Credit Unions for Kids—the brand under which America’s credit unions and affiliated organizations fundraise for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. All credit union donations, whether raised from the Credit Union SACTOWN Ten-Mile Run or other activities, are totaled through Credit Unions for Kids.
