San Diego County Credit Union surprises Labor Day weekend beach goers with `Beach Bankers Takeover’ promotion

San Diego County Credit Union (SDCCU), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, spoofed its own television commercials with a special promotion that surprised and entertained beach goers during Labor Day weekend.

SDCCU’s widely seen TV campaign, which debuted earlier this year, conveys how SDCCU offers great services and pricing in contrast to mega-bank bankers. Therefore, similar to scenes in the wildly popular 30-second TV spots, beach visitors on Saturday afternoon during Labor Day weekend met fictional big bankers who repeated “Money, money” numerous times, just like viewers see on TV.

There on the sands of some of San Diego’s most popular beaches along the Pacific Ocean, the actors also sang wacky banking songs and toted outrageous picket signs that reinforced the TV commercial takeaway messages.

The response by the public was overwhelming. People visiting San Diego’s Pacific Beach, Mission Beach and Del Mar oceanfront areas took photos and videos with the fictional big bankers, and entered a sweepstakes to win up to $1,000 from SDCCU along with many other exciting cash prizes. Photos and videos also were posted to the SDCCU Facebook page and TV/Radio news crews covered the special event.
