SAN FRANCISCO, CA (May 5, 2014) -- San Francisco Federal Credit Union, serving San Francisco and San Mateo Counties, participated in a home rehabilitation project in Daly City on April 26, 2014, with Rebuilding Together Peninsula, a nonprofit organization providing home repairs for low-income homeowners.
Volunteers from San Francisco FCU participated with volunteers from six other area credit unions as members of the California Credit Union League, El Camino Chapter. This was the El Camino Chapter’s seventh project with Rebuilding Together Peninsula.
“We’re so proud of our employees for pitching in and helping with this much-needed project,” said Courtney Derby, Marketing Manager and Chair of San Francisco FCU’s CommunityShare community service program. “Thanks to their hard work, the 93-year-old homeowner is now living in a safe and accessible environment.”
The volunteers helped with tasks like painting, building a deck and walkway, installing a backyard bench and mounting smoke detectors and other safety features. The team also built a stepping stone path from the backyard on the side of the home.
“Now that we’ve expanded our community charter into San Mateo County, we’re thrilled to be able to partner with organizations like Rebuilding Together Peninsula,” said Derby. “The El Camino Chapter plans to sponsor another project in 2015, and we plan on being there to do our part for the community we serve.”
