Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union opens 30th annual scholarship competition
Call for entries open. Top prize: $4,000. Competition ends May 31, 2024.
ALBUQUERQUE, NM (April 4, 2024) — Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union’s (SLFCU) 2024 Scholarship Competition is open from April 1 to May 31, 2024, for students enrolled full-time in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program. This year’s top award is $4,000, with a total of $12,000 given across nine awards. 2024 marks the 30th year the Credit Union has offered scholarships to its members.
“SLFCU is thrilled to launch its annual scholarship competition to support the educational goals of our college-bound members. The ideas in this year’s winning essays will undoubtedly spark meaningful change and inspire others to take charge of their financial futures. They will also give us some insight into young adults’ true financial hardships. For 30 years, this competition has demonstrated the Credit Union’s dedication to education, the communities in which we operate, and improving people’s financial lives,” said Stephanie Santillanes, SLFCU’s Director of Community Engagement.
This year, applicants are asked to address the following question: “What are some of the most pressing financial issues facing young adults today, and what can they do to overcome them?” Winners will be announced in August 2024.
To qualify, applicants must include a copy of their latest transcript showing a current cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, a copy of their résumé, and a letter of recommendation from an adult who is not related to them. They must also be a current SLFCU member and the primary account holder of an SLFCU savings account.
