Scott Burgess to retire from Rivermark Community Credit Union; Seth Schaefer named President/CEO

BEAVERTON, OR (June 28, 2018) — Rivermark Community Credit Union’s Board of Directors has named Seth Schaefer as the next President/CEO. Schaefer succeeds Scott Burgess who announced his retirement as President/CEO effective July 1, 2018.

The Board appointed Seth Schaefer as President/CEO, and Scott Burgess as Emeritus President/CEO, effective July 1, 2018, to ensure a smooth and seamless transition.

Schaefer, who joined Rivermark in 2003, most recently served as Chief Experience Officer directing all aspects of Mortgage, Consumer and Business Lending, Branch Operations, Call Center, and Marketing.  A long-term resident of the Pacific Northwest, Schaefer is a Willamette University graduate with more than 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry, including senior roles in strategic planning and enterprise risk management.

Schaefer also took a lead role in Rivermark’s branch transformation initiative that included introducing state-of-the-art video teller technology designed to meet the needs of members who seek extended hours and more in-depth banking conversations.

“After conducting a thorough succession planning process and evaluation, the Board of Directors is excited to have Seth Schaefer take the lead in carrying on Rivermark’s rich tradition of serving members,” said Steve Lucas, Board Chairman.

“Seth has been an integral part of our success at Rivermark,” said Burgess, “and I am excited about Seth serving in this new role. He is a highly effective leader and will carry forward Rivermark’s vision of helping members achieve financial success.”
