Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union makes the move to SoDo’s Home Plate Center

SEATTLE, WA (September 1, 2016)Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union (SMCU) announced today that it has completed the move of its administrative headquarters and approximately 100 employees to Home Plate Center.

Since its founding in 1933 as the credit union for City of Seattle employees, SMCU has followed the mission to be Seattle’s partner in growth and prosperity. This move parallels the city’s growth to the bustling SoDo neighborhood, where SMCU employees can better visualize the community they serve every day.

“With our roots in Seattle, it was important to remain in Seattle, and SoDo was a perfect fit with its proximity to downtown and the energy around Safeco Field,” said Tonita Webb, EVP/COO of SMCU. “As we look out the windows of our new home, we actually see Seattle – the Starbucks employee, Beacon Hill, the Peninsula, the Olympic Mountains, the Space Needle, Mariners and Seahawks fans and so much more.”

“We can see the people of our beautiful community and the many things that make Seattle—Seattle,” Webb added.

The new location provides a more open and efficient environment, bringing about greater collaboration and brainstorming between SMCU employees and departments. The LEED® Gold Certified building features an open concept floorplan, modern meeting spaces and additional room to add staff that will allow SMCU to continue delivering a high level of service to members.

Home Plate Center serves as the new home for KING 5, KONG and NWCN stations, plus RealNetworks, making the surrounding area a center for entertainment and technology as well as Seattle’s sports hub.

The new address for SMCU’s administrative headquarters is 1521 1st Ave S, Suite 500, Seattle, WA 98134. There will not be a branch at the administrative headquarters at this time, however two new ATMs will be available. The Downtown Branch of SMCU will remain at its current location.
