SECU Maryland opens new location in Frederick, marking its first center in Frederick county

Maryland’s largest credit union expands footprint and supports hybrid banking with its 25th financial center

BALTIMORE, MD (November 10, 2021)SECU, Maryland’s largest state chartered credit union, will unveil its 25th financial center at 5110 Buckeystown Pike in Frederick, Maryland, on Nov. 3, 2021. SECU’s Frederick location is its first in Frederick County and the latest in a series of planned new financial center openings, designed to expand the credit union’s footprint and better support members and their evolving banking preferences.

“We’re excited to meet our newest neighbors in Frederick, Maryland, and to open the doors to our first location in the county,” said Dave Sweiderk, president and CEO of SECU. “We’re proud to be able to look to the future with continued growth, providing our members with confidence as we support their financial needs through strategic, forward-thinking, member-centric services, products and additional locations.”

The Frederick Financial Center directly reflects SECU’s member feedback requesting a financial center in the county and a growing need along the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. corridor. The center has also been uniquely designed to support hybrid member interactions, offering members the flexibility of walk-in access, appointments or self-service banking.

The 2,200-square-foot center features the latest self-service tools, including two interactive teller machines (ITMs) in the lobby and one in the drive-thru that allow members to interact with a live SECU teller through a screen. To further provide members with a safe and comfortable banking experience, the Frederick Financial Center also features enhanced physical barriers and protocols to promote sanitation and social distancing, including one ATM inside of the center and one conveniently accessible in the drive-thru. For in-person services, the financial center will be staffed by four full-time employees, including two member advisors, a financial center manager and an assistant financial center manager. A Financial Advisor office will also offer personalized, one-on-one consultations via walk-ins or appointments.

To celebrate the grand opening of its newest financial center, SECU is inviting Frederick residents to a week-long in-branch celebration, featuring raffles, giveaways and complimentary financial wellness check-ups.

The opening of SECU’s Frederick location follows on the heels of its Maple Lawn Financial Center launch in August. Prior to launching its Maple Lawn location, SECU opened a location in Clarksville, Maryland in August 2020.
