Securian Appoints Group life Actuary and Leaders for Two Branch Offices

St. Paul, MN, February 13, 2012 – Growth in Minnesota Life Insurance Company’s group insurance in force – company data show it surged 15% in 2011 to nearly $660 billion – is opening up career opportunities across the division and across the country.
Following its October 2011 announcement that Minnesota Life won the group life insurance contract for the Employees Retirement System of Texas, the company opened a branch office in Austin. The Texas plan covers approximately 300,000 employees and retirees and 115,000 dependents. Texas is Minnesota Life’s sixteenth state government client: The Austin office at 600 Congress Avenue, Suite 2160, 78701, is the eighth branch opened to serve large government clients.
Lynn Gordon was selected to run the Texas office. Gordon joined Securian in 1996 and the group life unit in 2001. In 2003 she was appointed to open the Topeka, KS office to manage the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) group life insurance plan. In the nine years since, contracts with the states of Michigan and Colorado were added to the Kansas office’s responsibilities.
Mike Yee was appointed to succeed Gordon as manager of Minnesota Life’s Topeka office. Yee started his Securian career in 1990 in information technology, with an exclusive focus on group life IT after 1997. Yee played integral roles in several high impact group life IT initiatives over the years, including contract implementation for the states of West Virginia and Georgia. Susan Munson-Regala, FSA, also moved up within the Minnesota Life group insurance business unit. She was promoted from senior associate actuary to actuary and is responsible for group life insurance pricing, product development, expense management, and projection and analysis of financial results. Munson-Regala, St. Paul, MN, joined Securian in 1990 as an actuarial analyst. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
