Security Service Charitable Foundation donates $2,000 to the Good Samaritan Program

A better equipped kitchen is now on the way

SAN ANTONIO, TX (September 16, 2021) — The Security Service Charitable Foundation has donated $2,000 to the Good Samaritan Program to be used to finance a commercial food processor and a blender/mixer to meet increased food production demand. This donation will help support efforts to provide daily lunches for individuals, families and youth receiving services from the Good Samaritan Program.

“These kitchen accessories will help speed up the process of preparing lunches for our clients,” said Patricia Wesson, director of development for the Good Samaritan Program. “Having access to this equipment will allow us to make an even bigger impact on our local community as we strive to help our clients gain the important skills they need to become self-reliant.”

Founded in 1984, the Good Samaritan Program provides food, personal care items, and referrals to all people who request their services. They are located in Downtown Salt Lake City and currently give out 400-600 lunches per day. The organization is committed to helping all members of the community, regardless of religion, age or background.

“Every human being deserves to have a good meal, a warm blanket and a place where they can develop the skills they need to improve their personal lives,” said Ben Wiseman, senior vice president of member service — Mountain West Region for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “Providing these basic necessities will go a long way in helping those less fortunate.”

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union’s market areas.
