Security Service Charitable Foundation donates $5,000 to Snack Pack 4 Kids-SA

SAN ANTONIO, TX (June 4, 2020) — The Security Service Charitable Foundation is helping to address childhood food insecurity with a $5,000 donation to Snack Pak 4 Kids San Antonio, a non-profit organization that provides weekend food supplements for chronically hungry children. The funds will provide a total of 1,200 snack bags, feeding 33 children every weekend for a full school year.

“We are so grateful for this generous donation which will make a huge impact for so many children suffering from food insecurity,” said Leslie Kingman, volunteer executive director for Snack Pak 4 Kids. “Their partnership means a world of difference to us and each child they are helping to feed.”

Snack Pak 4 Kids was created to provide weekend food supplements to students. With the support of partners, donors, and volunteers of all ages, Snack Pak 4 Kids works to be a learning-enhancement tool for these kids, solving their weekend hunger issue so they can learn during the school week.

“We are honored to partner with Snack Pak 4 Kids to help address the relationship between food insecurity and learning,” said Brandy Ralston-Lint, senior vice president of corporate communications for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “Providing weekend nutrition fills a gap in services and can help ensure a child’s success in the future.”

Since 2012, the Snack Pak 4 Kids San Antonio program has doubled each year; with many local churches, civic organizations, businesses, and private schools partnering to serve 31 public schools in four school districts. Currently, over 2,500 children in Bexar County receive Snack Paks each week through the program. In Bexar County alone, over 120,000 children are considered to be food insecure.

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union’s market areas.
