Security Service Federal Credit Union launches real-time fraud alert service
Service to help prevent fraud on credit and debit cards
SAN ANTONIO, TX (March 18, 2015) — Driven by the vision to become America’s Best Credit Union, Security Service Federal Credit Union is adding a new layer of security to protect member accounts. This week, Security Service launched real-time credit and debit card text fraud alerts. This free* service is designed to help prevent fraudulent transactions from occurring on members’ credit or debit cards.
“With text fraud alerts, the minute we detect any suspicious debit or credit card activity on the account, we send a text message asking for verification of the transaction,” said Howard Baker, executive vice president and chief risk officer for the credit union. “Members can rest assured that card fraud monitoring and account security are top priorities at Security Service.”
Real time fraud alerts are available for the 700,000 Security Service members in Texas, Colorado and Utah. Debit cards are automatically enrolled in the program and are being actively monitored. Members may also choose to activate fraud alerts on their credit card accounts by enrolling online at ssfcu.org/security.
The credit union also offers these three simple tips to help combat fraud:
- Keep contact information with your financial institution current.
- Notify your financial institution when you travel.
- Never provide sensitive account information to anyone – including your financial institution – via text, social media or email.
