Security Service helps purchase safety seats for children with special needs through $10,000 donation

SAN ANTONIO, TX (June 26, 2018) — More than 130 children will receive free safety seats thanks to a $10,000 donation from The Security Service Charitable Foundation to The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. These particular safety seats will assist families in need of special seats to accommodate children who are facing various challenges.

“For more than 50 years, The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation has ensured that no child will be denied care at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio,” said John Bel, President of The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation. “The only way we are able to do this is through compassion and donations from partners such as The Security Service Charitable Foundation. There really is no more powerful investment we can make than in the health and happiness of children.”

The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation was chartered in 1955 to carry out a vision: that every child in South Central Texas would receive the best available medical care, even if their parents could not pay. Dollars raised support treatment, research and health-related programs, as well as capital projects.

“Many parents want to provide the best possible care for their children but are hindered by financial constraints,” said Jim Chapman, board member for The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio and senior vice president of Security Service Insurance for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “Families in our community face this at a heightened level when a loved one has a challenge or disability. The Security Service Charitable Foundation is humbled to be able to assist families with special safety seats.”

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union’s market areas that better the community and help to improve the quality of life.
