Sidney Federal Credit Union (SFCU) is proud to support the Samaritan Center of Syracuse through both financial contributions and hands‑on volunteerism, reinforcing the credit union’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the communities it serves.
During November and December, SFCU launched a special initiative in which the credit union committed to support families in need for every new checking account opened. While the campaign was framed around the concept of providing a meal to a family, its broader purpose focused on helping meet foundational needs that support stability, dignity, and well‑being.
As a result of this holiday initiative, $6,750 was donated to the Samaritan Center in support of their mission to serve the hungry and those in need in our community. In total, this holiday activation raised $27,000 across four nonprofit organizations, further amplifying its impact throughout the community.
With this donation, the Samaritan Center was able to purchase and assemble 40 My Place Boxes — essential household item kits distributed through the Samaritan Center's My Place Program to individuals and families working toward stability. On April 16, 2026, a team of SFCU employees also volunteered their time on-site to help bring the effort to life, witnessing firsthand the direct impact of their support on those served by the organization.
