Sikorsky Credit Union, William B. Meyer Inc. and the Stratford Rotary team up to protect information for a good cause

STRATFORD, CT (November 23, 2016) — Sikorsky Credit Union recently joined forces with William B. Meyer Inc. and the Stratford Rotary in hosting a Shred It Day event. This event took place at the Baldwin Center in Stratford on Saturday, October 22, and gave local residents an opportunity to protect their personal information by having paperwork properly destroyed. In addition to paper shredding, unused electronics were collected for disposal and recycling.

While giant trucks were being filled, funding was taking place for a community project through donations. A donation was requested of “Shred It Day” participants, with proceeds going toward the purchase of school supples for needy Stratford elementary school students. Despite inclement weather, a record amount was raised.

“The Stratford Rotary Club is very appreciative of those who came out for this event. Your participation helps us support Stratford students.” said John Corb, a Stratford Rotarian who helped facitilitate the event. Added Diane Farrell, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Sikorsky Credit Union, “This event fills an important need for the community. Some of our members drove nearly an hour in the rain to have paper shredded and electornics recycled. The community focus on protecting personal information and helping children is very important to us.”
