Silver State Schools Credit Union’s People Over Profit Foundation expands awards and significantly increases scholarship amounts

LAS VEGAS, NV (January 30, 2026) |

Silver State Schools Credit Union (SSSCU) is now accepting applications for the 2026 People Over Profit (POP) Foundation Scholarships for Nevada high school seniors through a new electronic application portal and is expanding awards by adding an additional needs-based scholarship and significantly increasing scholarship amounts. Since 1989, the POP Foundation has awarded more than $1.4 million in scholarships to outstanding Southern Nevada students pursuing higher education.

The POP Foundation Scholarship Program is composed of eight merit-based scholarships, two need-based scholarships, and one scholarship reserved for a future educator, recognizing students who demonstrate excellence in academics, extracurricular involvement, and community service. Beginning in 2026, eleven recipients will each receive a renewable $3,500 scholarship for up to four years, for a total potential award of $14,000 per student.*

“The POP Foundation Scholarship Program is more than financial assistance—it’s an investment in potential,” said Scott A. Arkills, President/CEO of Silver State Schools Credit Union. “By expanding scholarships and increasing award amounts, we’re deepening our commitment to Nevada students as they pursue higher education and create lasting positive change in our community.”

The program is open to Silver State Schools Credit Union members—or students who are in the process of becoming members—who are graduating from an accredited Nevada high school in 2026. All Nevada high school senior residents are eligible to join SSSCU, making them eligible for this scholarship opportunity.

The 2026 application deadline is 11:59 p.m. PST on Friday, February 27, 2026. For complete details and to apply, visit www.popfoundationlv.org/scholarships.

*Scholarships are paid out in $3,500 annual increments, for a maximum scholarship award of up to $14,000. Scholarships are renewable upon receipt of transcripts demonstrating a maintained college grade point average of 3.0. Recipients are responsible for submitting required documentation to process scholarship renewals and have six years from the award date to claim scholarship funds. The POP Foundation Scholarship Program is designed for Silver State Schools Credit Union members graduating from an accredited high school within the State of Nevada.
