SIU Credit Union announces five scholarship winners

CARBONDALE, IL (April 30, 2014) -- SIU Credit Union is excited to announce a total of $5000 in scholarships was awarded to five local students for the 2014-2015 academic year.  The recipients were selected out of over 100 entries, and each won a $1000 scholarship.  Selection of the recipients considered multiple factors including an essay about financial responsibility, a letter of recommendation, current grades and community involvement.  The awards were issued by Bill Capie, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Kim Babington, Vice President of Business Development on April 29 at the SIU Credit Union branch on N. Giant City Road near Kroger in Carbondale.

Scholarship recipients include:
Olivia Clark-Kittleson – Senior, Carbondale Community High School
Jenna Johnston – Senior, Benton Consolidated High School
Phillip Frangello – Senior, Carterville High School
Travis Barnett – Junior, Southern Illinois University Carbondale
Alicen Khoo-Torres – Senior, Elverado High School
