SkyPoint Federal Credit Union of Germantown, Md., has announced cash donations to local food centers to aid in keeping them stocked during the Coronavirus crisis

At the same time, the credit union has announced a pay increase for front-line employees who continue to serve the credit union’s members.

GERMANTOWN, MD (May 29, 2020) — SkyPoint, which has partnered with Manna Food Center and Nourish Now over the past several years, is donating $1,000 cash to each food shelf to help maintain their food supply levels, which are running low due to increased public demand.

“Our communities are being impacted in many ways by the Coronavirus crisis,” said Jim Norris, CEO of SkyPoint Federal Credit Union. “We want to do our part to support the community and help people however we can. Manna and Nourish Now are vital resources for the community in non-crisis times, and during times like these they are even more critical to maintaining the community’s well-being.”

Although SkyPoint branch lobbies have been closed to keep employees and members safe, the credit union has continued to stay open and operate. The drive-thru banking service remains open at the credit union’s Germantown branch, along with the credit union’s call center. In an effort to show appreciation to employees during these uncertain times, SkyPoint announced a wage increase that will translate, for most employees, to a 25% increase in their hourly pay rate.

“While we have made changes to our business model to limit human-to-human contact for our team members, we realize that there is still a risk in coming in to work each day,” said Gregg Zolkiewicz, Chief Operating Officer at SkyPoint. “This is our way of standing in solidarity with our team members and reminding everyone that we are all in this together.”

SkyPoint amended normal operating hours during the crisis. The call center and drive-thru at the Germantown branch are open to members from 9:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday. Soon, SkyPoint will begin to open branch lobbies to serve members in person.

In addition, SkyPoint will be offering virtual appointments for members, so they can conduct their transaction business from the comfort of their own home, and have provided additional loan and deposit account transactions within their mobile app.
