About Solidarity Community Federal Credit Union
Solidarity is the largest credit union in the Howard and Tipton county area, and has served Kokomo for over 61 years. The credit union was started by Delco UAW employees. They placed a quarter a week in a cigar box in order to have enough money to loan to a co-worker to purchase a car. From this form of saving and lending, they formed a cooperative to serve their employees and family members. Solidarity became a community chartered credit union in January of 2001 and serves anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school or volunteers in Howard or Tipton county and sections of Miami and Cass counties. Solidarity is a very community oriented financial institution and was awarded the Chancellor’s Medallion at the Indiana University of Kokomo’s Scholarship Gala on June 23, 2016. Solidarity has been awarded the “Best Credit Union in Kokomo” for the last four years in a row by the residents of the city. The credit union has also received “The Best Teller” award. In 2015, Solidarity donated over $47,000 to local not-for-profit organizations, hospital foundations, service clubs, and the local university. The credit union’s initiatives support the health, financial education, and emotional well-being of the members, children and students in the communities that they serve.
