South Jersey Federal Credit Union awards scholarships to high school students

DEPTFORD, NJ (June 15, 2017) — South Jersey Federal Credit Union (SJFCU) has awarded seven college-bound high school students with scholarships totaling in the amount of $3,250.

To be eligible, the student or a parent was required to be a member of South Jersey Federal Credit Union. Official high school transcripts, SAT/ACT scores, and a letter of recommendation also had to be submitted. The essay portion required students to invasion that they were on elevator and happened to strike up a conversation with a fellow passenger. They had to mention that they were on their way to South Jersey Federal Credit Union, while convincing the fellow passenger to switch from their bank to South Jersey Federal Credit Union.

The students were presented their scholarships from Rahul Kachru, President and CEO of South Jersey Federal Credit Union. “The contributions each of us make in a child’s life and education shape what they might become…the idea that we at South Jersey Federal Credit Union can participate in this contribution in a small way is an absolute honor. We wish these kids a very successful future,” said Kachru.

The following students were awarded scholarships.

·         Christine Adams from Bishop Eustace Preparatory School received a $750 scholarship, and will be attending Towson University.

·         Samiyah Banfield from Egg Harbor Township High School received a $750 scholarship, and will be attending Delaware State University.

·         Daniel Onuoh from Williamstown High School received a $500 scholarship, and will be attending Yale University.

·         Delano Louis Hendrix from Atlantic City Institute of Technology received a $500 scholarship, and will be attending Atlantic Cape Community College.

·         Ciara Zwicker from Mainland High School received a $250 scholarship, and will be attending Fairleigh Dickinson University.

·         Summer Roche from Atlantic City High School received a $250 scholarship, and will be attending Saint Joseph’s University.  

·         Jessica Toci from Lenape High School received a $250 scholarship, and will be attending West Chester University.
