SRP Federal Credit Union announces Mel Valenzuela as the credit union’s new Vice President, Chief Lending Officer

NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (August 12, 2016) — SRP Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce that Mel Valenzuela will be joining the organization’s leadership team as the new Vice President, Chief Lending Officer.  Mel brings over 23 years of financial services experience leading lending and retail operations for multi-billion-dollar credit unions and banks. Mel joins SRP having recently held the position of Senior Vice President, Chief Lending Officer for Keesler Federal Credit Union ($2.4B in assets), in Biloxi, MS where he had strategic oversight for the credit unions $1B loan portfolio and over 100 employees.  Mel brings broad lending experience and depth of exposure in all aspects of consumer, real estate, and commercial banking.  Prior to joining Keesler, Mel worked for two large credit unions in New Mexico managing diverse lending business lines and large retail branch operations.

Mel has a bachelor’s degree with a dual major in Financial Management and Real Estate from New Mexico State University and is a graduate of Western CUNA Management School.  Mel is in the process of relocating to the North Augusta, SC area with his wife and 2 children and is looking forward to being a member of the team on August 22, 2016.
