(March 25, 2014) -- The region’s leading credit union opens its 17th branch location Wednesday in Spokane’s historic Hutton Building.
The Hutton Branch is located on the street level at 9 S. Washington Street (the corner of Sprague and Washington), where STCU also has completed renovation of the lobby area and a 1,000-square-foot space that’s available for lease. An STCU sign atop the seven-story building has brightened the Spokane skyline since January.
Plans for later this year call for turning the building’s top floor into the new home for STCU commercial lending. The credit union will offer floors two through six for sale to other businesses.
The new branch was designed by Nystrom Olson Architecture, with Meridian Construction as the general contractor. Wells and Company is handling the overall Hutton Building project, as architect, general contractor and listing agent for non-branch spaces.
The 2,300-square-foot Hutton Branch will have a four-person staff. Manager Brandon Wilhelm is a graduate of Spokane’s Rogers High School.
May and Levi “Al” Hutton had the building constructed in 1907 with money from the North Idaho silver fields. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
On May 1, STCU will host an open house to celebrate the new branch, starting at 10:30 a.m.
Also this year, STCU plans to open its fourth North Idaho branch. The Coeur d’Alene Branch will be at the corner of Ramsey Road and West Appleway Avenue.
