John Acanfora has been named as Sun East Federal Credit Union’s new vice president, information technology, effective Dec. 3, 2018. The executive search was conducted by Credit Union Resources for the $585 million dollar credit union located in Aston, Pa.
As the previous the vice president of information technology and operations at Utilities Employees Credit Union in Wyomissing, Pa., Acanfora was responsible for executing strategic technology initiatives within a virtual, branchless business model. During his tenure, he directed a business-driven IT strategy that delivered enhanced member-centric services including new phone, lending, relationship management, and virtual banking platforms, which boosted membership growth and garnered a higher-than-industry average (nearly 50 percent) of the credit union’s targeted youth market.
Prior to working at Utilities Employees, Acanfora was the chief information officer at VIST Financial, Inc. in Reading, Pa., responsible for all IT, purchasing, facilities, and disaster recovery functions for VIST’s banking, insurance, wealth management, and mortgage divisions.
With more than 34 years of progressive IT experience, Acanfora will help Sun East continue its mission to exceed the financial needs and service expectations of their members, staff, and community through financial strength and excellence. Acanfora is recognized in the industry for his success in providing fiscal, strategic, and operational leadership in a number of challenging and high-paced industries.
Acanfora received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Pace University in New York, N.Y. He is also a graduate of America’s Community Bankers, National School of Banking, and also completed the Executive Development Program at America’s Community Bankers.
