Suncoast Credit Union hires community relations director

TAMPA, FL (June 17, 2015) — Suncoast Credit Union (Suncoast) is proud to announce that Mary W. McDonald has joined the organization as the community relations director. In this new role, McDonald is responsible for developing relationships with key community-based organizations; overseeing and evaluating sponsorship opportunities and fundraising events; developing strategies to build awareness for internal and external initiatives that improve the lives of members; and leading Suncoast’s volunteer efforts within local communities in the seventeen counties the credit union serves.

Suncoast has grown into an ardent community leader and believes in the importance of building stronger communities. “As an organization, we want to develop new initiatives to make a difference and improve the lives of people in our communities,” said Vice President of Marketing at Suncoast Credit Union, Patti Barrow.” Mary brings forward-thinking vision and strategic planning experience that will allow us to increase community outreach programs and bolster our commitment to increasing financial literacy.”

Born in Frankfurt, Germany, McDonald grew up in Winston-Salem, N.C. and moved to Florida in 1988. McDonald is a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) volunteer and a self-proclaimed volunteer fanatic, who states, “I learned long ago, in my first corporate position, that giving back is what really enables you to make a lasting difference.” McDonald is the mother of two children, a junior at Plant High School and a sophomore at Florida State University.
