YORK, PA (April 25, 2014) -- Superheroes overpowered downtown York on April 24, 2014 as they battled it out in the 26th Annual Easter Seals’ Office Olympix event. Teams of superheroes from local businesses competed in a variety of games from 6:30 – 8:45 p.m. at the Valencia Ballroom located at 142 North George Street. In addition, they also had the opportunity to meet the Easter Seals’ Ambassador Kids and learn more about the Easter Seals mission. To further support the Easter Seals mission, this year, special guests Dave and Angie Kot, spoke about their non-profit, “Autism at Face Value.” They were on hand to sign their comic book which is written about an autistic superhero. Dave also donated a portion of last night’s comic book sales to Easter Seals. The event was a great success bringing in over $33,000 for Easter Seals of Western and Central Pennsylvania.
Each year, Easter Seals Western and Central Pennsylvania offers help, hope and answers to over 20,000 families with special needs. Ninety nine percent of the funds raised in York, stay in the York community to provide programs and services such as adaptive water skiing, snow skiing, music therapy, and camps for adults and children alike. In fact, Easter Seals has been ranked #1 among the National Health Council's member agencies for allocating the highest percentage of dollars to providing direct services - a distinction we've held for 30 years.
