Tarrant County’s Credit Union donates bicycles

FORT WORTH, TX (September 12, 2016) — Throughout August, Tarrant County’s Credit Union collected and donated used and new bicycles to help individuals in need of transportation.

Each month TCCU has an initiative of service in the community; for the month of August, for the issue of transportation, TCCU collected bicycles for donation to a local bike CO-OP, Querencia Community Bike Shop. The bike shop refurbishes bikes and donates them to the community and to families in need.

“It was a pleasure to assist a like-minded cooperative in providing transportation to individuals in our community who struggle with this issue,” said TCCU’s Business Development Coordinator, Melissa Burleson. “Querencia Community Bike Shop was very easy to work with, and I feel that the bikes that we donated will have a positive impact on those in need.”

TCCU collected bikes at their Plaza and Lake Worth locations during the month of August. Children’s bikes that are refurbished are donated to families in need or to charities that work with children during the holiday season.

“My staff gains great satisfaction in helping others, and when we can collaborate with other cooperatives to heighten the impact of our combined efforts, we can make a substantial impact,” said Lily Newfarmer, President & CEO of TCCU.
