Taunton Federal Credit Union recognized for assistance in downtown Taunton

Taunton Federal Credit Union (TFCU) was recently recognized as one of the recipients of The Taunton Business Improvement District's (BID) 2021 David DeSantis Downtown Development Award for their investment and economic impact in Downtown Taunton.

Kathy Doyle, BID Vice President and wife of the late David DeSantis, recognized the important role TFCU has played over the years in the revitalization and development of downtown Taunton as a local community credit union. Kathy highlighted that it is the important work that TFCU undertook during the first year of the Covid-19 Pandemic that made the Taunton BID especially want to recognize and thank them with this award in 2021. TFCU was one of several local financial institutions that initiated special programs for small businesses financially impacted by Covid-19, processed unprecedented amounts of PPP applications rapidly to get funds into the accounts of local small businesses (in many cases, for people and businesses who were not current members, but quickly became new ones), and worked with existing members on loan deferrals and other payment options to ease immediate financial burdens.
