TRAVERSE CITY, MI (June 3, 2025) |
TBA Credit Union has concluded the 2024-2025 Student-Run Credit Union (SRCU) program and helped students save over $6,400. This past year, the program was held in ten local schools.
This year, Trinity Lutheran School received the traveling trophy, which is awarded yearly to the school with the highest percentage of participation from TBA Credit Union student account holders.
The Student-Run Credit Union (SRCU) program is designed to encourage lifelong savings habits and provide first-time job experience to students in the 4th or 5th grade. Student volunteers apply and interview for their desired credit union position, then run an SRCU branch at their school. Student members can deposit money into their TBACU youth account or apply for membership without entering a branch.
"Our team takes great pride in bringing financial literacy to local schools," said Mary Beth Ruskowski, Marketing Manager at TBA Credit Union. "It's not just about teaching money skills- it's about empowering the next generation. We value the connections we build, the impact we make, and seeing our student volunteers and members grow."
