Teachers Credit Union board member, Thea Kelly, receives the 2016 Madame C. J. Walker Award

SOUTH BEND, IN (March 25, 2016) — Teachers Credit Union (TCU) proudly announces Thea Kelly, Member of the TCU Board of Directors, receives the 2016 Madame (Mme.). C. J. Walker Award. Awarded each year to the committee’s designated “Outstanding Woman of the Year”, the Mme. C. J. Walker Award is given to an exceptional woman who has distinguished herself through a lifetime of unparalleled achievement and service to others. The Mme. C. J. Walker Award is the highest honor awarded at the Achievers celebration.

The award presentation will occur during the Center for Leadership Development’s 36th Annual Minority Awards Celebration on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at the Indiana Convention Center.

Ms. Kelly currently serves as a senior commercial attorney for Dow AgroSciences, LLS, a division of the Dow Chemical Company. She champions a number of social causes outside the area of law, including working with the Pike Township Schools and SHPE (Society for Hispanic Professional Engineers) to provide resources for STEM related projects to expose and encourage more students of color towards STEM related careers. Additionally, Kelly has served on the TCU Board of Directors since June, 2011 and is active in many organizations including the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis, the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library Foundation, Inc. and the Indianapolis Bar Association.
