Ten high school seniors will receive a boost toward their college educations from Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union after earning Ted Hitch Scholarship Awards

Ten high school seniors will receive a boost toward their college educations from Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union after earning Ted Hitch Scholarship Awards.

Named in honor of a past president of the credit union, each scholarship provides $5,000 toward educational expenses for the winners.

This year’s recipients are Sydney Blanford of Castle High in Newburgh, Indiana; Samuel Carter of Upperman High in Baxter, Tennessee; Jason Chamness of Reitz High in Evansville; Lauren Earhart of Mount Vernon (Ind.) High; Carlie Elpers of Memorial High in Evansville; Bailey Hume of Daviess County High in Owensboro, Kentucky; Hannah Menke of North High in Evansville; Kathryn Muensterman of Mater Dei High in Evansville; Juliana Peckenpaugh of Reitz High in Evansville; and Cole Privette of Henderson County High in Kentucky.

The scholarships are awarded annually to members or children of members of ETFCU. In the competitive process, applicants must have a minimum 3.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale or a 5.0 GPA on a 6.0 scale. Judges also consider class ranking, SAT and/or ACT scores, financial need, participation in school and community activities, essay, and letters of reference.

The students will be honored during a program on April 22.
