Outstanding leadership at SDCCU recognized by local business newspaper

SAN DIEGO, CA (June 16, 2017) San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, is proud to announce that SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Halleck was named the 2017 Most Admired CEO in the Business/Nonprofit category by the San Diego Business Journal. The awards program recognizes dynamic business leaders and role models for their achievements and contributions to San Diego companies and the economy.

Halleck, who joined SDCCU as president and CEO in August 2010, was among more than 100 nominees selected by the San Diego Business Journal, a San Diego regional weekly business publication, for its annual competition. The newspaper’s Most Admired CEO Awards program recognizes dynamic local industry leaders whose drive and vision have kept their organizations vibrant and financially sound, helping the local economy thrive. Awards were presented on June 15 at a special reception held at the Hilton San Diego/Del Mar. Halleck previously won the Most Admired CEO award from the San Diego Business Journal in 2011 and 2015.

Under Halleck’s leadership, SDCCU continues to remain a top financial performer in the industry while balancing service and convenience and driving efficiency in operations. Halleck has led SDCCU’s executive management team with an internal standard of excellence plan that improved customer service across all touch points and has driven SDCCU to become one of the largest credit unions in the U.S.

Halleck previously served as the president and CEO of Golden 1 Credit Union headquartered in Sacramento for nearly eight years. During her tenure at Golden 1, the credit union grew from $4.2 billion in assets with 65 branches to in excess of $7 billion in assets with 84 branches, tremendously expanded its field of membership, enhanced its product and service offerings and increased the credit union’s visibility in its chosen markets while maintaining a consistent focus on exceptional member service.

Prior to Golden 1, Halleck was president and CEO at State Employees Credit Union of Maryland, where she brought financial expertise and stability to improve the organization’s overall financial performance.

Halleck is a well-respected leader in the credit union community, not just in San Diego and California, but nationwide. In 2013, she was reelected for a second term as chairman of the board of the California Credit Union League (CCUL), one of the nation’s largest statewide credit union trade associations. She has since continued her service to the League by serving as a Board and Committee Member. Additionally, she serves on the State of California Department of Business Oversight Credit Union Advisory Committee. Halleck was also selected as a board member of the National Credit Union Foundation.
