York, PA- The York Chapter of Credit Unions is proud to announce Taylor Pendergast and Nathan Bahn as its 2011 Scholarship Winners. During the chapter meeting on May 2, 2011, Bill Bowker, President/CEO of Glatco Credit Union and Chapter President, presented Taylor and Nathan with certificates of achievement and checks for $500 to be used towards their first years of schooling. This is the 7th year the chapter has held the scholarship contest.
Taylor is a member of First Capital Federal Credit Union. She attends Central York High School where she is on the Student Council, helps with Yearbook and is the Varsity Cheerleading Captain. Taylor is also involved with the Margaret E Moul Home, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the SPCA. Taylor plans to attend American University in Washington DC where she will major in International Studies.
“Taylor has a very bright future ahead of her,” says Dennis Flickinger, President/CEO First Capital FCU. “We are happy the York Chapter of Credit Unions chose a superior student like Taylor for this honor.”
Nathan is a member of Glatco Credit Union. He attends Spring Grove Area High School where he is President of the German American Partnership Program; Treasurer for the Drama Club; part of Marching, Concert, and Select bands as well as the Broadcast Team. Nathan is also involved in the Boy Scouts, York County Honors Choir and Acts of Kindness Community Theatre. Nathan plans to attend Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA where he will major in Archaeology.
“Nathan is a talented young man,” said Bill Bowker, President/CEO of Glatco Credit Union. “We are happy to have him as a member of our credit union.”
The York Chapter of Credit Unions is comprised of credit unions who serve members in York County. Our goal is to raise credit union awareness, support our affiliated credit unions by providing educational events for employees, contribute to community development, and promote financial literacy in our schools.
