York, PA – On Tuesday, September 11, 2012, the York Chapter of Credit Unions sponsored a concert at the Strand Capitol Performing Arts Center titled ‘HONORING OUR COUNTRY’S HEROES.’  The concert featured well-known musician, John Sebastian, with special guests Cooney & Eliot, and benefitted Homes for Our Troops, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping America’s wounded warriors obtain suitable housing so they can resume a normal life.

The York Chapter of Credit Unions, an organization of not-for-profit financial institutions whose guiding philosophy has always been “People Helping People,” partnered with Homes for Our Troops to raise funds in order to build a home for a LOCAL soldier who was wounded and left handicapped in the service to our Country.

The event began at 7 p.m. with the National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance and Presentation of Colors followed by the musical acts.  There was a special ‘meet and greet’ with John Sebastian and Cooney & Eliot after the performance.  A special reception for local dignitaries, event sponsors, and Credit Union CEOs was held prior to the concert.  Donations during the evening totaled more than $400.  And ticket sales amounted to roughly $5,000.  All proceeds will be donated to Homes for Our Troops.
