Travis Credit Union and students honored by Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
VACAVILLE, CA (March 18, 2016) — The Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SHCC) announced the 2016 recipients of this year’s Awards & Recognition Gala.
Each year, the SHCC recognizes local businesses for their commitment to the community and presents this prestigious recognition during the annual gala. This year, the Chamber opened voting to its membership, which provided an opportunity for members to voice their selections in a transparent process. Travis Credit Union was named 2016 Business of the Year for the second time in four years. Businesses selected demonstrate a tremendous impact on Solano County through their initiatives and resources to positively influence the Hispanic community.
“We are grateful to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for this endorsement of our credit union,” said Barry Nelson, president and CEO of Travis Credit Union. “Being recognized again as the best credit union in Solano County is quite an accomplishment for us and something we are very proud of. These awards are driven by the unique value proposition we offer based on personal relationships, local decision-making and a best-in-class experience so, these accolades, belong to our employees and our members, without whom none of this would even be possible.”
“We focus on people – providing value to our members and the communities we serve, and our passionate employees –everything we do is driven from that perspective,” Nelson added. “This recognition underscores how the community has received our brand of banking and financial services.”
The Chamber also awarded scholarships to six Solano County students, totaling $7,500. These deserving students, ranging from high school to post graduate education, were selected based on their commitment to improve their local community and the use of their unique talents to address pressing issues.
“The Gala gives us an opportunity to showcase the talent we have in Solano County,” said Andrea Garcia, President of the Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. “The annual event is a great platform to recognize and reward outstanding performances of business excellence, while encouraging the entrepreneurial and community spirit that encompasses Solano County.
“Each of our scholarship winners has also demonstrated a clear commitment to improving their communities. They are future leaders and individuals with commitment and drive. We are pleased to award the scholarships and support their pursuit of education and exploration of career paths.”
More than 175 people attended the annual event on March 12, 2016 at the Hilton Garden Inn Fairfield, which is a scholarship fundraiser for Solano County Hispanic students, including Assembly members Jim Frazier and Bill Dodd, Solano County Board of Supervisors Erin Hannigan, Fairfield Mayor Harry Price, and Vacaville councilmember Dilenna Harris.
