VACAVILLE, CA Travis Credit Union executives got out from behind their desks, purchased supplies and picked up paint brushes to give one of the transition houses at Mission Solano a new coat of paint on July 15.

The workday at Mission Solano wrapped up a multi-day session the credit union’s leadership team participated in to discuss future plans for the Vacaville-based financial institution.

“Volunteering in the community is part of our promise to be an active and supportive community partner,” stated Patsy Van Ouwerkerk, president and CEO of Travis Credit Union.  “This year’s community service project, made a difference in the lives of the individuals who currently live in Mission Solano’s transitional housing.  It was a very worthwhile project”.

For at least the third year of taking on community projects during their offsite planning session, the two dozen Travis Credit Union leaders decided to “walk the talk” instead of simply writing a donation check or attending a fundraiser.

In previous years, the credit union did work for Habitat for Humanity and the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

Headquartered in Vacaville, California, Travis Credit Union is a not-for-profit, cooperative financial institution serving those who live or work in Solano, Yolo, Sacramento, Placer, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Napa, Contra Costa, Alameda, Sonoma, Colusa, and Merced Counties.
