TruEnergy Federal Credit Union is excited to announce the selection of Scott Benson as their next President/ Chief Executive Officer. After 12 years with the credit union, the current CEO, Lynette Smith, is retiring. Benson has almost 25 years of experience working in the credit union space and has been the COO at TruEnergy since 2019.
Ms. Smith commented on the decision saying, “TruEnergy is an incredible organization, and I am happy to retire knowing that it is in Scott’s capable hands.”
Since becoming the Vice President of Operations in 2007, Scott Benson has helped to implement several important initiatives within the credit union, including implementing a mobile app, assisting in the coordination of a merger, and helping to grow TruEnergy $80 million to $122 million. As the COO, Benson was the leader of the rebranding efforts that resulted in the new name and logo and had a hand in many cyber security efforts as the Information Security Officer. Mr. Benson has a bachelor’s degree in communications from Marymount University, and is an active member in not only his local community, but in the credit union movement.
When asked about his new position Benson said, “I am humbled and honored to have been chosen as the new President and CEO of TruEnergy FCU. This credit union has been a part of my life for a long time, and I am excited to lead TruEnergy and continue our growth in the future.”
