Truliant donates $10,000 to Bennett College’s #StandWithBennett campaign

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (January 30, 2019) — Truliant Federal Credit Union on Tuesday presented a $10,000 donation to Bennett College for its Stand With Bennett fundraising campaign.

Bennett College, a private, all women’s historically black liberal-arts college in Greensboro, North Carolina, is currently in the midst of a fundraising campaign to maintain its accreditation.

Last year, the college launched a fundraising campaign to reach its February 1, 2019 goal of $5 million. To date, Bennett College has raised more than $3 million.

“At Truliant, we believe investing in education provides future leaders with the tools they need for success,” said Sherri Thomas, chief human resources and organizational development officer at Truliant. “We have a responsibility to ensure Bennett College is able to continue enriching the cultural and social fabric of our community. We encourage organizations and individuals to help make a difference, whatever the size of your gift.”

Bennett College is one of the two existing women-only, historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the United States. Founded in 1873, originally as a normal school to educate freedmen and to train men and women as teachers, Bennett became a women’s school in 1926.
