ST JOSEPH, MI (February 17, 2015) -- United Federal Credit Union (UFCU) is now offering its Members access to Apple Pay, an easy, secure and private way to conduct payment transactions with hundreds of thousands of participating retailers nationwide.
When Members add a UFCU Visa® card to Apple Pay, they will be able to use their iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and soon Apple Watch, to pay in stores without swiping their credit or debit card. By simply holding iPhone or Apple Watch near a contactless reader, payment can be made with a single touch of the cardholder’s finger using Touch ID. In addition, Apple Pay will also allow users to pay for a variety of online purchases in apps and is compatible with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3.
“We are constantly looking for ways to help improve the financial well-being of our Members,” said UFCU President/CEO Gary Easterling. “Apple Pay will bring a new level of convenience to Members, allowing them to make purchases with their mobile devices in an innovative and secure way.”
Security and privacy are at the core of Apple Pay. When you add a credit or debit card to Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device. Each transaction is authorized with a one-time unique dynamic security code, instead of using the security code from the back of your card.
Apple Pay is easy to set up and users will continue to receive all of the rewards and benefits offered by their UFCU Visa® card. For more information on integrating Apple Pay with your UFCU Visa card, visit www.unitedfcu.com/applepay.
