Unitus Community Credit Union announces 2026 VITA tax preparation site

Free tax preparation services available by appointment for eligible individuals and families at Unitus’ Beaverton Branch

Tigard, OR (February 11, 2026) |

For the fifth consecutive year, Unitus Community Credit  Union is partnering with MFS CASH Oregon to provide free Volunteer Income Tax  Assistance (VITA) services to the community. The IRS-supported program helps eligible  individuals and families file their tax returns at no cost and access important tax credits  and refunds.

Free tax preparation services will be available by appointment only Tuesdays from 9:00  a.m. to 1:00 p.m., February 10 through April 14, at the Unitus Beaverton Branch, located at  3215 SW Cedar Hills Blvd., Beaverton, OR. Appointments can be made through the MFS CASH website.

VITA is designed to support individuals and households earning $69,000 or less annually, as  well as persons with disabilities, older adults, and limited English-speaking taxpayers.  Appointments are open to Unitus members and non-members, and assistance is available  in both English and Spanish. All returns are prepared by IRS-certified volunteers, including  Unitus financial education specialists to help ensure accurate filings.

MFS-CASH (Creating Assets, Savings, and Hope) Oregon is an economic empowerment  program of Metropolitan Family Services that focuses on improving financial stability for  working individuals and families across Oregon.

Through the VITA program in 2025, Unitus helped to get $87,721 in funds returned to  working families and individuals in Oregon.

“We’re grateful to our partners at MFS-CASH Oregon for helping make this service available  to our community” said Steven Stapp, President and CEO of Unitus Community Credit  Union. “Providing access to free, trusted tax preparation services is an important way we  support financial well-being for our members, employees, and the broader community.”

Community members can visit cashoregon.org to determine if they’re eligible for free tax  services. The website also lists the documents needed for tax preparation, offers links to  schedule appointments, and provides resources for taxpayers who have an Individual  Taxpayer Identification Number.
