Unitus Community Credit Union is proud to announce that Nicole Davison León, newly elected Chair of the Unitus Board of Directors and Executive Director of the Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber, has been named a 2026 “40 Under 40” honoree by the Portland Business Journal.
The annual awards recognize emerging leaders shaping the future of business, nonprofits, and the public sector across the region.
Davison León is a first-generation Latina leader focused on closing the Latino wealth gap, advocating for economically disadvantaged communities, and expanding access to education and financial opportunity.
As Executive Director of the Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber (HMC), she leads strategic planning, fundraising, scholarship efforts, and business support to promote economic advancement and equity for Latinos in the region. Her leadership efforts have generated $160 million in scholarship funds for Latino students in Oregon and Southwest Washington.
Davison León was elected chair of the Unitus Board of Directors in March after serving as vice chair. At Unitus she partners with credit union leaders to champion financial wellness and inclusion for all through programs such as immigration loan products, bilingual financial education, and Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)Loans.
In 2024, she received the Distinguished Director Award at the GoWest Credit Union Association’s annual MAXX Awards.
“Nicole leads with both purpose and impact,” said Megan Snyder, VP Strategic Partnerships at Unitus Community Credit Union. “Whether she’s advancing economic opportunity through the Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber or supporting our work at Unitus, she brings a deep commitment to community, collaboration, and creating pathways for others to succeed.”
Born in Mexico City and raised in Nogales, Ariz., Davison León earned a bachelor’s degree in international affairs from Northern Arizona University, and received the Gabriela Mistral Award for her commitment to education and promotion of multicultural understanding.
“We are thrilled to celebrate Nicole’s recognition and the impact she continues to make across our communities,” said Unitus Community Credit Union President and CEO Steven Stapp. “Her commitment to expanding opportunity and uplifting others reflects the kind of leadership that strengthens our entire region.”
