Unitus Community Credit Union and Oregon State University become the dream team with award-winning inaugural Dream Come True program
PORTLAND, OR (June 12, 2017) — Learfield Communications hosted the 4th Annual CLYDES Ceremony and awarded “Best Overall Performance” to Unitus Community Credit Union and Oregon State University (OSU) for their inaugural Dream Come True program. The program was selected amongst 120 other schools across all sports at the Ceremony, which took place on May 10, 2017 at the Glass Cactus in Grapevine, Texas.
The Dream Come True program kicked off in 2016, when Unitus and OSU partnered to give back to the community. The program was built to fulfill the wish of a child, battling a serious or chronic illness, for every OSU Beaver home football game during the season. Eligible children were nominated through an online process on the OSU Beavers’ website and 7 children were selected in total.
Each child experienced the following:
- Invitation to visit the final walk-through at Reser Stadium on Friday to meet the team and coaching staff
- Seats in the luxury club seating area for immediate family
- Pre-game sideline passes for the participant and plus-one to watch the team take the field
- A signed OSU Football by the Beavers
- Personalized game jersey
- On-field recognition during the game (optional)
This ultimate fan experience extended beyond the regular season to include a reunion event during the OSU Spring Football game on March 18, 2017. The team invited all 2016 wish recipients back to Reser Stadium for a luncheon, time with Coach Gary Andersen, and fun with the football players on the field before kickoff.
After the program’s award-winning launch in 2016, both Unitus and OSU Athletics expect 2017 to be even better, expanding the Dream Come True to Beaver men’s and women’s basketball games. “On behalf of Oregon State Athletics, we are honored to continue our partnership with Unitus for this meaningful endeavor,” said Beaver Vice President/Director of Athletics Scott Barnes. “Our student-athletes, coaches and staff are proud to embrace these families and make lifetime memories.”
Dream Come True is just one of many examples exhibiting Unitus’ mission to give back to the communities they serve and focus on their core principle of “People Helping People.” For more information about the Dream Come True Program, visit www.osubeavers.com/dreamcometrue.
